Product use
In industry: as a drying agent or as a desiccant; is a de-icing compound due to the large amount of heat released during its dissolution; used in concrete mixing to accelerate the initial stabilization of concrete; Liquid calcium chloride is used to fill additional tubeless tires as liquid ballast and to aid traction in cold climates.
In biology: Liquid calcium chloride is used in the genetic modification of cells by increasing the permeability of the cell membrane, providing the capacity for DNA entry.
